Day Ten--Montreal

This morning after breakfast here at the hotel, we took the Metro to La Ronde. It took us two trains and a bus to get there, but we conquered that Texas fear of public transportation! The subway here is so unlike New York...it's almost spotless and doesn't smell at all! Even the tracks were clean! AND, it was easier to navigate in FRENCH than the New York subway.

La Ronde is a Six Flags property that is on the grounds of the 1967 World Fair grounds. It's pretty much like any other theme park, with the small exception that everything is in French. Everything. Scott saw this and had to take a picture. I have no idea why, he just said that I had to put in on the blog for the poker guys! Men.

Here is Mandy on her first ride on one of the little roller coasters....
Here is Mandy when we all refused to ride that same roller coaster with her a FIFTH time...
We all finally convinced her that there were other rides that would be just as fun!

It was super hot and humid here today and we were all so hot and sweaty when we left the park that we skipped the zoo and headed back to the hotel to shower. Afterwards, we walked to dinner down in Vieux Montreal again. This is the Basilica de Notre Dame....Thomas at dinner...
After dinner we had crepes...a new experience for the kids, but one they loved!

Thomas's Top Five:

1. Dessert! 2. La Ronde 3. The water ride! 4. Watching the guy juggle fire at dinner. (There was a guy in the square juggling and from where we were sitting on the patio, the kids had a great view!) 5. Riding with Mandy on her roller coaster.

Grace's Top Five:

1. Dessert! 2. Going to Six Flags. 3. Scrapbooking. 4. The ride where we got soaking wet! 5. Dinner-watching that guy juggle fire!

We have really enjoyed our visit here in Montreal. It's like being in Europe. I have to say it's really different being in a place where EVERYONE around you is speaking a language you don't understand. I think I'll be a little more sympathetic in the future! Everyone assumes you speak French...like the young lady on Mandy's favorite roller coaster who instructed me to do something and I had to tell her I spoke no French. She then said," You need to cross your legs like Indian."

Tomorrow we head for Maine and I'm really hoping it'll finally be a little cooler there.

Blessings,

Leslie
