After breakfast we headed out of Niagara Falls. I just had to try and snap one last picture of the Falls from the bridge back into the states...

Then, we waited in line to re-enter the U.S.

I think both Scott and I way underestimated how long it was going to take us to drive from Niagara Falls to Lake Placid. It took us 9 hours to get here. Of course, we did stop a couple of times! Mostly for potty breaks, but we did stop in Rochester, New York. George Eastman...of Eastman-Kodak lived in Rochester and you can tour his house. At the back is the International Museum of Photography and Film. Scott was in heaven, until he saw the camera he used as a newspaper photographer in the room with all the "old" cameras!!! Here is Grace "posing" so Thomas can see her upside down image in a camera from 1890.

Look!! He had his own library! Imagine....a whole room of nothing but books....my idea of heaven!

In one of the upstairs rooms of his huge, lavish house they have put in a discovery room for kids. I've been in many of these and this was by far the best. They had one of those things that spins and you look through the holes and the individual pictures look like they're moving...I can't remember it's name, but it's what proved that all four hooves of a horse come off the ground at once when it's running. (Scott just announced it's called a
Zoetrope...show off) Anyway....they had
precut strips for the kids to make their own and put them in and spin.

Then, they had an experiment to simulate film exposure and developing.

After this, we drove and drove through
Syracruse. Only stopped briefly for a restroom break. After that we entered the
Adirondack mountains. Not much of anything for about 5 hours. Oh, except several of those tiny little "towns" that look like those in the movies where travelers have car trouble and are never seen or heard from again. Other than those sprinkled along the highway it pretty much looked like this...

And, just in case you're curious, here's what we paid for gas today...
We are at a really cool lodge here in Lake Placid. It was dark when we got here, so I'll post pictures tomorrow.
We had some internet difficulty in Canada (apparently Canadian wireless internet is configured differently), so here is a video clip that I shot that I couldn't get posted yesterday...
Tomorrow we will head to Montreal, Canada...a MUCH shorter drive than today!
Blessings,
Leslie
