Election Day!!

Have I mentioned how much I love the kids school??! Today they had a mock election for all the kids. They had voter registration cards that they had to present before they received their ballot. They voted in "precincts"...the grade level workrooms! I was the election official for 2nd grade. Each class drew for electoral states and after their popular vote was completed they went to the office to cast their state's electoral votes.
At election headquarters the states were colored red or blue. It was AWESOME! It was a perfect working model of the electoral system in our country. What an amazing lesson for all those kids. They were so excited they could hardly stand it and really took the whole thing very seriously. One little girl told me that she couldn't make up her mind because she had heard on the playground that if Obama were elected that we would have year round school!!!

It was awesome to watch them participate in the excitement of election day! I loved that I got to be a part of it and get my "government teacher fix" for this election! I had such fun watching all of Grace's little friends have this first amazing experience voting.

(Aunt Holly...this one's for you!! Send me your new email address when you get a chance!)

As you know this is a big deal at our house and of course I'm still up watching different state races as I write this!

Halloween!

Last night was Halloween. We had a great time Trick or Treating. This was the first year Mandy really "got it." She had a great time until the Sleeping Beauty lite-up slippers started to rub blisters on her feet!

They all combined their loot when they came back. This morning they had it sorted in to piles according to variety all over the living room floor!

Halloween Blessings,

Leslie

Last week...

We had crazy hair day on Tuesday. Thomas just spiked his with gel, but Grace decided that multiple pigtails were in order! I think we had four total...
Mandy had her Fall Party at Mother's day out on Thursday. She wore the Halloween skirt Gigi made her and she was so proud of her new boots! On Friday, 2nd Grade had a Fairytale Tea to conclude their unit on fairytales. They had to dress up as a fairytale character so Grace chose to be a Queen.

Grace with her friend Gretta....Grace with her friend Emmi...They were all so cute! They had a parade around the school for all the other grades to see and then ended in the cafeteria for snacks!

Blessings,

Leslie
