Mostly what we did today was drive. All day. For 8 hours. And for being stuck in the car for 8 hours, our kids were awesome. I was amazed. Thomas has learned to mimic. For about 6 of the 8 hours he repeated everything Grace said. Grace would get frustrated and mad, and Mandy would laugh her head off at the two of them.
Scott, however was not so entertained with today's drive. Most of it was on a two lane highway thru North Carolina and Virginia. We thought it would be a pretty, scenic drive, but it was mostly just frustratingly slow with hundreds of traffic lights in town's that really didn't even need one, following trucks that looked like this.....

Or this..... (Note the "Yankees Suck" bumper sticker)

Anyway...it turns out Virginia Beach was worth the drive. The beach here is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. It is unbeliveably clean. Everything is clean here....the beach, the streets, even people's language and actions! They have city ordinances against foul language and lewd dress and behavior in public!! I'll add the pictures of the signs in a separate post so I can make them bigger.
Thomas and Grace couldn't come up with a top five today since most of it was spent in the car. We did however wander around the boardwalk area when we got here and they wanted you to know about the "super slide" they all went down...including Scott.

They were all breathless and laughing when they came to a stop! They also wanted you to know about the best ice cream ever. Thomas had cherry vanilla that had huge whole marachino cherries in it and Grace had Oreo. They also got temporary tattoos on the boardwalk..Thomas superman and Grace a butterfly.
Tomorrow we are playing at the beach in the morning and we then we are headed to Cape May for the night. We've made reservations on the ferry, it takes an hour and ten minutes to cross the bay. The kids are looking forward to driving the car onto a boat!
Blessings,
Leslie

What an amazing journey! Chris and I are enjoying reading your blog every night and think we will just use your road map for a family trip someday! Grace-I wish I was with you! I can just see you in the off the shoulder dress as I noticed that several times in class with your tshirts! I was laughing out loud! :)
