1. "Going to the top of the Empire State Building!" "Our ears popped in the elevator 'cuz we went up so high!" We did the Empire State building last thing tonight and there was absolutely no line. They liked how high up they were and that they could see the whole city. It really is spectacular at night.
2. "Statue of Liverty!" We did this first thing. We took a taxi to Battery Park and by the time we got there, the line was already around the park. It took us about an hour of waiting in line and going thru security before we got on the ferry. By the time we got to Liberty Island it was raining pretty steady again, so we just looked around a bit, did the gift shop and headed back.
3. "We had dinner with daddy's friends." We met Paul and Eunice, family friends, for dinner. We had a wonderful time and the kids absolutely adored them!
4. "We rode in a taxi!" This was one of the major exciting events of the day. It never occurred to me that they didn't know what a taxi was. Yesterday, driving in Thomas asked what all the yellow cars were. Once I explained, they became fascinated and stood at the window in our hotel counting them!
5. "Tell everyone to pray that people don't die like that again."
When we were deciding what our top 5 were for today, Thomas wanted to mention that we went to the World Trade Center site. They were obviously at a loss for how to mention it when Grace says, " Just tell everyone to pray that people don't die like that again." I think that pretty much sums it up.
All in all we've had a great time here in NYC. It is a difficult city to do with kids. I'm worn out from pushing the stoller, and there is TONS of walking. We are going to do 5th Ave. and the American Girl store in the morning and head for Philadelphia around noon.

How did you manage to avoid the C.H.U.D.'s? I heard they were really bad after dark.
