Headed to the beach...

We left home this morning to drive to South Padre for our 6th annual beach trip. We are minus a few regulars this year though. As some of you know, we've done this trip every year with my cousins. This is the first year that they haven't joined us. Jason and Cathy are buying and moving into a new house and Cathy has school, and Scott and Patty are expecting a new baby in December and decided to sit this year out! Well, that what they said anyway...maybe they were just sick of us!!!

Anyway, we convinced Jason and Cathy to let us bring Savannah with us. The kids are soooo excited to have her here. Last night Grace and Savannah stayed up till 1:00 am talking!!! I finally had to go lay with them to get them to go to sleep! Didn't bother me a bit though. I'm glad that they have moments like that together. I remember well the excitement of having cousins visiting. In fact, I still get excited when they visit and we have been know to stay up till 1:00 visiting ourselves!

This year we have our friends the Braddock's joining us! We are thrilled that they wanted to spend the week relaxing on the beach with us. Grace is just beside herself that there will actually be more girls than boys at the beach for once! In fact, it's a regular chick fest! Thomas is the ONLY boy besides his dad and Mr. Braddock!

We drove to Corpus Christi today and are spending the night here before going on to Padre tomorrow. We stopped in Austin and had lunch at Freebirds and then another trip to the "cupcake trailer!"

The kids were great in the car. They visited, watched movies and sang along to their ipods.

We got to Corpus around 4:00, so we went to tour the U.S.S. Lexington. Scott and I had done the tour before we married, eons ago. The kids had a blast! The heavy artillery was the big hit...

In the brig...

Just in case your thinking you might want to visit this monster air craft carrier, a few tips...

Wear tennis shoes...Grace had lots of falling flip flops on the stairs!

Pack water and a fan...it's hot, humid and very cramped. Sweltering is a good word. It's really fun to see and the kids loved it. I think Scott might have had a bit of heat exhaustion all evening though!

Tomorrow we are visiting the Texas State Aquarium before heading to the condo!!!

Blessings,

Leslie
