Last Thursday we had our 3rd annual Friend of the Year reception.
Though our third annual event, we stepped things up a bit this year and turned it into our first official fundraiser and, after expenses, suspect we raised in the neighborhood of $20,000.) Thanks to many of you who were there to show your support for Friends of Texas Public Schools as we honored Tom Frost, Senior Chairman of Frost Bank, and paid tribute to Texas public school educators and students. The Stables at Pearl Brewery was a perfect venue, which fit our 300 guests perfectly. Last year we had 200 people attend and thought we were doing well.
We were blessed to have many dignitaries in the room, including our past two recipients Charles Butt and Mike Boone. Rob Eissler, Chair of the House Education Committee attended, as well as Representatives Donna Howard, Thomas Latham and Charlie Geren. The crowd was a wonderful mix of corporate, non-profit and educational leaders. We had an amazing line up of sponsors as well!

The auction was a tremendous success. We had some really nice auction items and it ended up raising nearly $9000… thanks in large part to the extraordinary auctioneering skills of Texas PTAs Kyle Ward.
It's really amazing to stand in a room and literally watch your dream for an organization come true right before your eyes. An absolutely amazing evening...
