Hawaii-Day 3

Aloha!  Yesterday we decided to spend the entire day on the beach.  On the long plane ride here we met a lady who was traveling home to oahu with her 3 kids.  She recommended that we go to the Lanikai beach.  So that was where we headed off to today.  The entire island isn't beach.  Some areas are very rocky and cliff like with no beach at all.  Some have a narrow strip of beach while others have long beaches.  All very different.  Even the sand is different depending on which side of the island you are on.

This picture of Grace scares me...she's starting to look less & less like a kid.
The water is crystal clear so Scott had them put their masks on and the went to look at the rocks underwater....
This pic is a little disturbing, but I assure you she hasn't drowned!
Random pics of the unbelievable view...

Just a few tiny islands off the coastline!

On the way back to the house we stopped at a much different beach called Sandy Beach.  Here it is very rocky & breathtaking!  One of the coolest places I think I've been.  Of course, you all know that I am a beach lover, but this wasn't like any beach I've ever been too.  The water here is powerful and slams against the rocks.  Takes your breath away to watch it.  The kids loved climbing on the lava rocks.  Cool because you can see the flow of the lava in the rock.  Kinda course and prickly to walk on but we did it anyway.  Got some great pics that will be on canvas and hanging in my beach bedroom soon!

Scott was taking Grace's picture when a large  wave came up behind her & caught her unaware!

Today we are doing a catamaran sailing trip that takes us out to see the sea turtles and to snorkel!  Tomorrow we are doing Hawaii FULL ON for our last full day...Pearl Harbor & a Luau!!

Mahalo & Aloha,
Leslie
