On Satuday we went to the National Archives, because in my Government teacher opinion no trip to our nation's capital is complete without seeing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitiution. There are no pictures from this, because they don't allow it.
From there we went to the International Spy Museum. This was a very cool place with all sorts of old spy gadgets. Sort of the evolution of technology in spy toys. I would love to go back there with no kids when I had the time to really read all the cool stuff in there. There are no pictures from this either, because they don't allow photography in the museum. However, I did sneak a picture of this quote, because I really liked what it said and thought it was so applicable to our nation today.
After spending several dollars in the "spy shop" and lunch at the "spy cafe," we headed back to the hotel to rest. Later, we headed to the Kennedy Center to see "Sheer Madness." It's a hysterical audience participation who-dun-it comedy. The kids had a blast!!! I just love the fact that they like the theater. We stood on the huge balcony that overlooks the Potomac and watched a thunderstorm roll in durning intermission. Pretty cool. No pictures of this either, because...you guessed it...no photography allowed.

We got up early and headed to Annapolis. So AWESOME! The United States Naval Academy is there. It doesn't get much cooler than that! After a brief stop at security, you are allowed to tour the campus.
They have a really neat museum there that we all enjoyed. The first thing you see there is the space capsule that Alan Shepard returned to Earth in after his first trip into space!
Annapolis is the neatest little harbor town with some amazing architecture. We took several pictures of things we liked to use as ideas for our new house.
My favorite part was shopping at all the quaint little boutiques and watching all the young sailors dressed in their crisp white uniforms.
It was like something out of a movie! We went to the state capitol..of course! It is the oldest state capitol in continual use. Below is a picture of the House of Representatives.
I loved this town, in fact, Scott already has it on the itinerary for next summer's road trip. We simply didn't have enough time to see and do everything we wanted since we had to head to the airport just after lunch.

Thomas and Grace are really started to enjoy the history of these places and since history has always been a passion of mine, I love to see that in them.
Blessings,
Leslie
